Based in Kingston, Jamaica, Odiyo is an audiobook app that aims to increase accessibility to Caribbean audiobooks, and provide a marketplace that focuses on Caribbean creatives.

Our Vision

Our vision is to shine a light on stories from the Caribbean, having them in one space and easily accessible through audiobooks.

By building a community, Odiyo will have a positive benefit towards this and generations to come by preserving and progressing our heritage and culture through literature.

Users will be more inclined to read or listen to these productions which not only have the capability to inform and enlighten us on historic moments in time, but also to redefine our forward growth as a nation/region .

We inspire to change the way people in the Caribbean consume their own content and also enable them to be more appreciative of it.

Founder

Saeed Thomas

Saeed holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management from the University of the West Indies, Mona. With his extensive experience and academic background, he brings valuable expertise to the field of video production and entertainment.

Recognized for his talent and dedication, Saeed received the 2020 Prime Minister's Youth Award for Arts and Culture. He has worked on various short films, including "Enhanced," "Kinto," "Cross My Heart," and "Flight." Additionally, Saeed was selected for the Clermont Ferrand 2020 Euro Connection Programme, presenting his script, "Black Girl In The Ring."

Gibran Hutchinson

Gibran is a seasoned finance professional who has accumulated more than 7 years of experience across different sectors of the global financial industry. After completing his BSc in Mathematics at the University of the West Indies, Gibran began his career in the microfinance industry in Jamaica, gaining valuable practical knowledge for two years. He later pursued an MBA with a specialization in Finance and Strategy at the Schulich School of Business in Toronto.

Following his studies, Gibran embarked on a successful tenure in various analyst positions within the top 5 banks. Over a span of 5 years, he honed his skills and expertise in these roles. Most recently, Gibran transitioned to New York, where he served as a Manager of Retail and Real Estate Credit Risk, contributing his in-depth knowledge to the field.

With his extensive background and diverse experience, Gibran brings a wealth of expertise to the realm of finance.

Company Secretary

Ariel Von Cork

Ariel was called to the bar in 2015 and specializes in Financial Services and Tech Law. She holds a Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law and is also a certified Data Protection Professional. Ariel currently works for a group of companies in the fintech arena where she has been involved in launching several Fintech products around the Caribbean including mobile wallets.

With over a decade in the field of Technology, Kangwa has worked with companies of all sizes from start-ups to large government agencies. A self-taught web and mobile developer with a Bachelors in Computer Science from The University of the West Indies, Kangwa has a passion for technology and is committed to creating real world change with innovative technology solutions

Joshua Paul

Joshua Paul is a highly skilled individual who excels in various creative domains, including filmmaking, lecturing, writing, directing, producing, and entrepreneurship. He has garnered acclaim for his exceptional films, including the award-winning works "The Misadventures of Brian and Sachin" (2015), "Kinto" (2018), "For My Daughter" (2019), and "Sugarcake" (2020). Joshua's prowess extends beyond his roles as a writer and director, as he also demonstrates expertise in assistant directing, editing, producing, and audio specialization.

In addition to his cinematic pursuits, Joshua passionately shares his knowledge and experience as a university lecturer in media and communications. Through his role as an educator, he imparts valuable insights and inspires the next generation of filmmakers. Joshua's multifaceted talents, coupled with his dedication to storytelling, make him a dynamic force within the industry, leaving a lasting impact on audiences and aspiring creatives alike.
